Has everything we're looking for!

It's great to have a feeder that is truly easy to clean! We won't need the tooth brush with head bent in boiling water to clean this one.

Ants were a real pain with the old feeder and there was a trail of them going up and down the tree too and from the old feeder when I took it down. We want to eliminate this particular ant colony and don't have any honeybees around here so we made a dry mix of 50:50 white sugar and borax and put a few drops of water in it leaving some dry in the moat. Nearly all the ants are now stopping there to collect the bait

Tip: if you want hummingbirds to be really attracted to your area or they're emptying your feeder to fast you can make syrup as thick as 1:1 water to white sugar. Or at 5:1, wasps aren't so attracted and hummingbirds that have established in your area will be back to fuel up more often with the lower sugar content. Flowers hummingbirds naturally feed from in different areas vary in a similar range.
